Full-Spectrum vs Broad-Spectrum vs Isolate

What these three extract types mean and how they appear on product labels.

The three extract types

These terms describe how much of the original plant extract remains in the product.

  • · Full-spectrum: contains a range of plant compounds, which may include trace THC
  • · Broad-spectrum: a range of compounds with THC reportedly removed
  • · Isolate: CBD only, with other compounds removed

How to verify

The extract type should be stated on the label and supported by the brand's batch testing. If a listing does not state the extract type, ask the retailer before purchasing.
